Apple Watch Black Friday deals – SFGate

Maybe you’re not in the market for an Apple Watch for yourself, but boy does that seem like a nice gift to give to somebody you love. If you’re gonna take the smartwatch plunge, Black Friday is the time to do it—the popular Apple device is on sale at a bunch of different retailers, so you’ll have your pick of deals.

The headliner so far is Walmart selling the  Apple Watch Series 3 (GPS) for $129.00. It’s not the top-of-the-line device, but it’s still an Apple Watch, and you can barely fill an SUV up with gas for that much.

Our friends at Slickdeals dug through all the Apple Watch deals out there and picked the best ones. They’ve also thrown in a few other options if you simply can’t wait until Black Friday, or if you’re looking for an Apple Watch alternative.

Apple Watch Series 4 deals

Apple Watch Series 4 (GPS) – Discounts as high as $300 at Best Buy

Best Buy has not announced its official Black Friday prices quite yet, but its ad preview says that you can expect to save a minimum of $50 on a Series 4, which can run you anywhere from $349 to $800 at regular price. New users will receive a free three-month subscription to Apple Music with their purchase, too.

Apple Watch Series 5 deals

The Apple Watch Series 5 has yet to be featured in any Black Friday previews. It’s possible Apple wants to retain the value of its new release, since it only came out two months ago, or maybe it plans to offload Series 3 and Series 4 watches before allowing a sale on the Series 5.

If you’re willing to sacrifice the new “always-on” screen and compass functions, you can save a decent amount of money by purchasing a Series 4 instead. The previous watch has more or less the same form and function as the Series 5, and you’re more likely to find a good Black Friday deal.

Pre-Black Friday Apple Watch deals

Apple Watch Series 3 (GPS) – Sale Price: $169 at Target | Reg. Price: $199 and Apple Watch Series 5 (GPS) – Sale Price: $414.99 | Reg Price: $429 at Best Buy

Target’s Black Friday preview featured the Series 3 deal, which went live before Nov. 29. Slickdeals points out you can go for a good deal on one now if you don’t want to wait, or fear the Walmart deal will sell out quick. Worst case, you can buy one within 14 days of Black Friday and return it if you see a better deal. Best Buy makes the most sense for the Apple Watch Series 5, as new users receive three free months of Apple Music with this purchase.

Apple Watch Series 3 (GPS + Cellular) 38mm – Sale Price: $199.99 | Reg. Price $379 at Walmart

As far as cellular-enabled Apple watches go, this is one of the best deals at the moment. You can either pick this up in store or choose free two-day delivery from the website.

Apple Watch alternative deals to consider

Samsung Galaxy Active SmartWatch 40mmPrice: $199.99 and Samsung Galaxy Active2 Smartwatch 44mm, Black – Sale Price: $249.99 | Reg. Price: $299.99 at Best Buy

The Galaxy Active price is pretty standard, but it’s still a solid deal. The Galaxy Active2 44mm is the best price publicly available right now, save for at Costco, where it’s $239.99. Unfortunately, that deal is for Costco members only. Alternatively, the Active2 40mm is $229 right now at Target, too.

Garmin vivoActive 3 with BONUS Band – Sale Price: $129.99 | Reg. Price $179.99 at BJ’s Shipping is free. If GPS and fitness are your priorities on a smartwatch, the Garmin vivoActive 3 is a budget-friendly option. Compared to other retailers, BJ’s list price of $179.99 list price before the discount is reasonable. You have to be a BJs member to buy this in-store, but you can purchase it online so long as you pay the annual non-member fee.
