The driver died early Sunday morning on Highway 138, just north of Cajon Pass, after a large Jackknife rig and pickup truck crashed into flames.
The collision occurred near Lastall Road, a few miles south of Ferrand. The pickup ignited immediately.
According to CHP, a heavy-duty truck driver got out of the car and began wandering the freeway while the California Highway Patrol unit was responding. The cicada that fell on the highway also began to ignite.
When the unit arrived, they found the pickup driver’s body in a burning car and called it Coroner in San Bernardino County.
It wasn’t clear on Sunday if the semi-driver was injured.
The driver for the pickup has not been identified.
A big Jackknife rig blocked the freeway for hours. The highway was reopened by about 8 am.
